About Me

My name is Kathy Watt Zawacki, Owner and Creator of ArtOnAJourney. I am a maker of “Inspiring Photographic Gifts”, that are stylish and functional. 

Photography is my background, graduating in 1985 from Southern Illinois University with a BS in Photography and a minor in Advertising. I worked mostly as a freelancer for the next 16 years which allowed me opportunities to work with Montgomery Ward and Spiegel catalogs, BetterHomes and Garden’s Holiday Cookbooks, Wilton Cookbooks and Lobster Gram to name a few. In my late 20’s, I also dabbled in the fashion industry, which took me over to Europe for the first time. I always enjoyed traveling, but the travel bug officially set in during this trip and started accruing a mass library of imagery that hasn’t stopped since. I then took a 11 year hiatus to be with my kid’s which is where ArtOnAJourney was created.

But really, ArtOnAJourney essentially started when I was 12 years old… My parents' gave me a 110 camera before we left on a family vacation in Colorado. That was when my journey began.

I have always been inspired by what you can capture behind the lens of a camera. Looking through a camera lens provides a unique opportunity to capture a sense of place, a moment in time, the desire to connect, evoke wanderlust. This is my inspiration. 

ArtOnAJourney started humbly with creating handprinted, Greeting Cards adding in Photo Stone Coasters and now, with the help of my production partner, I am able to offer functional art with my images on Makeup Bags, Pillow Covers, Tote Bags and Wristlets. 

My journey is not over. I look forward to creating joy with amazing images on my products for years to come.
